I am an acupuncturist practicing Western Medical Acupuncture.
My training and qualifications are with the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS), through which I gained the Certificate in Medical Acupuncture.
I have worked as a doctor for 20 years, gaining a huge wealth of experience. I am now greatly enjoying treating people with acupuncture in my own beautiful space.
I have set up a beautiful, calm acupuncture clinic over-looking a garden and immensely enjoy treating patients holistically here.
I have time to really get to know my patients and treat them as a whole-person in a peaceful, private environment.
The clinic is located in Headingley/ Weetwood, Leeds, in the LS16 postcode area.
I insert very fine needles through the skin to create beneficial effects on the body.
Acupuncture has been used in China for thousands of years, where it was used within traditional Chinese medicine. Western medical acupuncture is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence-based medicine.
Acupuncture is effective in a range of painful conditions and is commonly used for short-term relief of chronic low back pain and neck pain, and can help with the management of knee pain caused by osteoarthritis.
There is good evidence that it is effective in the short term relief of tension type headaches and migraine, and of temporomandibular joint pain.
Short term improvements in the symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome (through electroacupuncture at the point SP6).
The list above is limited by the current rules governing advertising, and how they are interpreted.
If you have a question about the possible role of acupuncture in a specific medical condition or in the treatment of an individual patient please contact me to discuss it.
The BMAS is a registered charity established to promote acupuncture within medicine for the public benefit. They seek to enhance the education and training of suitably qualified practitioners, and to promote high standards of working practices in acupuncture.
BMAS are the internationally recognised gold standard in Western Medical Acupuncture (WMA) education and training.
All BMAS acupuncturists are regulated healthcare professionals, who have also undertaken additional training in Western medical acupuncture.
The BMAS website has a wealth of information about acupuncture:
